It’s not without its charms, but it just can’t compare with the better games in the same genre on the Nintendo Switch. Wasted too much time on an earlier round? You might have just messed up the rest of your run.Īs a result of these issues, Croixleur Sigma is a Spectacle Fighter that doesn’t look especially good, doesn’t feel very good while fighting, has terrible camera issues, and punishes you for taking too much time. Trying to find that last enemy left alive? The clock will keep ticking down as you fiddle with the camera. Low on health and want to try to conserve energy until the next round? The clock will hold you accountable for it. It gets worse too - every one of the game’s lengthy multi-round battles is timed, and taking too long results in an instant fail. Players can opt to use gyroscopic motion controls for the camera, but this makes things even worse, with the camera shuddering at every slight movement, and not in any way attempting to follow your character.Īs if that wasn’t bad enough, this game’s combat mechanics proudly boast about all of your moves being able to cancel into one another, but the unfortunate issue with that is that this becomes absolutely necessary, as every single move has an absolutely absurd wind-down animation - even dashing and jumping will freeze you in place after doing it for an agonizingly long period of time unless you cancel it into another move. Firstly, the camera in this game requires constant babysitting, which is not great for a fast-paced, action-packed combat-focused game. The audio presentation here is decent though, with fully-voiced (in Japanese) characters and some energetic music to fight to.Īs for the fighting itself, there is some complexity here, but it’s buried under a slew of issues. It’s not terrible, but given that this game is standing next to the likes of Bayonetta 2 on the Nintendo Switch, it kinda’ pales in comparison.

The monsters, on the other hand, look somewhat generic, and the arenas are largely nondescript. The presentation for the girls themselves is pretty good, with some nice character models. This game has players fighting monsters in circular arenas using one of four anime-style girls touting a variety of weapons, with the action incorporating some light RPG elements as well.
